Phoenix Centre for the Youth & Buggies for Good join hands!

When the wonderful people of Phoenix Centre for the Youth, non for profit organisation in Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA got in touch our hearts here melted.  What a humble and amazing job they do!!

They work to break the cycle of poverty and homeless and believe that parenting is the most important job someone can have. Phoenix understands that parenting can be daunting for young adults, especially as many of their young parents have not had strong role models from whom to model their own parenting behaviours

They work to support parents and children in the community by ensuring that young people have every opportunity to achieve success and happiness in their lives.  An extraordinary situation has presented an opportunity to help a mother and her 2 young children. Hailey is a single mother who attends the Phoenix Parent Support Program. She is mother to a young daughter with a genetic disorder that has left her with developmental delay and the inability to walk, and a 7 month old infant. She is challenged each and every day with hauling a very large and cumbersome stroller on and off the bus. This severely limits her quality of life and ability to access support services.  So when Valerie got in touch with phil&teds we wanted to help!

The Phoenix staff and youth begun working on raising funds to purchase a phil&teds, but with Buggies for Good we wanted to donate one to Hailey and her little treasures.  Hailey is now the proud owner of the Sport and is super pleased with it.  This sure is a story that makes all of us at phil&teds HQ go all warm&fuzzy!

Hailey and her bubba's

I must commend the work that Valerie, Elizabeth, and all the staff at Phoenix do!!  Keep doing what you do and let us know how we can help!  If you are interested in helping out; check out their site!

Buggies for Good

Here at phil&teds we’re always trying to make a difference, that’s why we set up our buggies for good programme. It’s so easy! We give owners of phil&teds products the opportunity to give back to the community by simply giving us back their phil&teds gear when they’ve finished using it. This way we can re-vamp it or use the parts and give back to those in need. Good huh?

We haven’t been able to get this programme rolling alone though; a huge thanks to the following key contributors for donating their services to the Buggies For Good programme:

Refugee Family Reunification Trust and Buggies for Good

refugee-family-reunification-trust-buggy-1-25-04-2009-12-550wphil&teds buggies for good programme is thrilled to be able to support the Refugee Family Reunification Trust. They recently gave a buggy to Lydia who had just arrived from Eritrea with her 4 young children, whilst pregnant with her fifth. The phil&teds inline buggy will be enormously useful to help carry her 2 youngest as she enjoys the freedom of life in Wellington.
The Refugee Family Reunification Trust was established in 2001 and raises funds to financially assist refugees in Wellington with the costs associated with bringing qualifying family members to join them in New Zealand. Many of these families have been living in refugee camps in Africa for many years, in appalling circumstances. A total of 62 refugee families have been helped with the costs directly associated with bringing their families to New Zealand since the Trust was established.

phil&teds donate buggies to help bushfire victims

The entire phil&teds team is shocked and saddened by the devastation of the bushfires in Victoria. So many people have lost everything and we want to help out those who now have to rebuild their lives. We are donating buggies to the appeal and are currently working with the Red Cross to figure out the logistics of how to get those buggies to the people who desperately need help right now.

If you would like to offer assistance to those who have had their lives destroyed by the fires, please give visit www.redcross.org.au for details on how to donate.
