If you're in the market for a high chair, mama, our Editor is loving the stylish (and affordable!) Phil&Ted's Poppy
After sifting through online reviews and checking out all its cool features – particularly its big, removable food tray; its spongy, hypo-allergenic seat; and its compact footprint – I was definitely ready to give the Poppy a try.
I’m happy to report that this seat ROCKS, mamas! So much so, in fact, that we’ve currently purchased a second chair to have with us while we’re home in the U.S. this summer (from where I am currently writing this!)."
For those parents with a small kitchen or who like to store the chair between uses, the Poppy breaks down easily for a very compact storage. All you have to do is pop off the legs and footrest and you can easily store the seat, tray and legs in a pantry or closet.
Overall, the Poppy is a simple high chair that not only looks cool but gets the job done. It is easy to clean, has a large tray, can be broken down for storage and has an extended use as the “My Chair”. For us that is a win for a high chair! Read more
phil&teds have cottoned on to the fact that babies are messy eaters. poppy’s waterproof & seamless

Unlike traditional high chairs (with crumb-collecting padded seats and bulky designs), the poppy has a sleek, stylish shape in three bold color choices, and is super easy to wipe clean. (The high chair tray is even dishwasher safe.) And unlike modern high chairs, this one converts from baby high chair to big-kid chair — and not just by pulling up to the table, but by actually shrinking down to their size. Read More
You only have to so much as glance at a magazine, or switch on the television (hello, Mad Men!) to notice the evergreen design aesthetic of the Sixties is enjoying yet another swinging moment. So it pleases us to see phil&teds latest launch, the poppy high chair, has more than a hint of Barbarellaesque retro futurism about its eye-catching design.
"The seat itself boasts ‘aerocore’ technology: it’s soft and spongy, giving your child supportive cushioning when seated. It’s also hypo-allergenic, waterproof and can be wiped clean, which is important when feeding little ones is concerned. We all know more food often ends up on the floor than in hungry mouths – and there’s no telling where those little hands will wipe their dinner.
Perhaps just as importantly, the seat is also well suited to our Aussie climate, providing good ventilation as well as insulation and, for those who might want to house the seat outside, complete UV resistance so it won’t crack and the colour won’t fade (you can choose from three vibrant shades – cranberry red, bubblegum blue, or lime green)."

"Its time for our daughter to start out eating solids and we are excited to start her out in a phil&teds product as we have had great success with our phil&teds Navigator. Some awesome features about the Poppy is that it takes literally minutes to put together i think it took us maybe 5? and it also goes from a high chair to a preschool chair. This is an awesome feature since i have a baby and toddler. It can be changed back and forth super easy and its extremely durable as well.
I love the modern look of the Poppy and that it comes in different colors to fit your homes decor. It also doesn’t look like any other high chair i have ever seen. The seat is super soft and washable. Its also dishwasher safe which is awesome in my book since i like to really disinfect things." - Super Frugal Stephanie
My one year old can spread his food round the good sized tray with minimal mess as the tray is snug enough around his body. My three year old enjoys using it as her ‘arm’ chair while watching her favourite programme. In general I think phil&teds have brought out yet another innovative product. I am definitely a fan of products that can be adapted to suit your growing child. I highly recommend it for those with a bit of space in the kitchen/dining area. Read more
Our poppy received a Bronze award for Best High Chair in the Nursery Trader Awards 2013.
"The Poppy is very well made and functional - it's wipe-clean seat is made from aerocore and is perhaps the most comfortable seat in this category. I love the fact that the tray 'wraps' around your child as we all know that weaning children can be a messy business. I love the comfort and flexibility this seat offers and it's good value for money."
For me, a good high chair has to perform in four key areas: Cleaning - a triple tick. The seat has no cracks or seams for food to get stuck in, is easily wiped clean and has a large detachable tray that is dishwasher safe. Comfort - the poppy's seat is seriously comfy. The aerocore seat is super soft and spongy and I can see kids happily sitting without a sore bum in sight. Stylish - another big tick here. The poppy looks great in all of it's modes. And with a heap of colours to choose from I'm sure it'll fit in with even the wildest of colour schemes. Lifetime - huge tick. As well as the benefits of the seat being UV-resistant so no sun fading, waterproof and wipe clean, the poppy will easily see you through from 6 months beyond as it converts to a cute little seat.
What I really like about the Poppy is that it, unlike our old high chair, slots nicely onto the dinner table so she can join the big people instead of sitting second row. She is still confined to a high chair and her food stays nicely in place on the tray but she doesn’t seem to mind as much as before. I also love that the tray is rounded so it fits much better around her body, most high chairs have straight, rectangular trays so lots of food seems to fall in between.
