New York, November 10th – 1st step of our World Tour

We arrived in New York six days ago, after a six-and-a-half-hour- long flight from London and a one- and-a-half-hour-long flight from Toulouse (South West of France). We were a little anxious about how the flights would go with our 14 month old Maylis, especially as she was supposed to sit on our knees . However, some tricks given to us by her grandmothers were quite efficient: making her discover new little toys, that we kept hidden from her until the take off, giving her bread to chew and simply walk with her in the alleys;  Maylis was pretty serene.

The weather in New-York has been cold (around 4°c) since we arrived, but we still managed to spend a lot of time outside, wrapping Maylis comfortably in a phil&teds “Snuggle and Snooze” , which kept her really warm while she recovered from jetlag  in her stroller.

This allowed us to take many walks in various places such as Central Park (almost every day), Times Square, Liberty Island and Ellis Island, Broadway, Brooklyn, Chinatown, Little Italy… Maylis saw almost nothing the first few days, since she often slept deeply in her stroller. At least, we’ll show her all the photos when she’s bigger… Sometimes each of us wishes we were inside the stroller instead of pushing it, since we haven’t totally recovered yet from the intense past month of organizing our moving and our departure.

New York! New York!

We noticed many phil&teds strollers here, Explorer, Sport, Dash, they are much more widely spread than in France (especially among people having two children). About the Traveller, we cannot say, as we can’t see it out and about. In our personal case, it is of a great help to the three of us:  Maylis has her own familiar place to sleep every night (we have set it with her usual blankets and toys, and she still goes easily to sleep in it), and besides, thanks to its compactness, we were able to tidy it in our principal case when we registered at the airport, so that it did not count as an extra bag.

Tomorrow, we are leaving for California, second step of our trip. We hope that the flight will go as well as the first ones!
