Introducing our newest blogger – Clara is not only the Regional Manager of one of Australasia’s leading workplace health companies (Vitality Works) she is also Mum to 7 month old triplets! With the help of her husband Jason she is loving every second and is a master of triple feeding, triple nappy changing, triple soothing, triple pushing, pretty much everything triple!
After successfully establishing New Zealand’s leading corporate wellbeing company with sister Louise, and being super-Aunt to 7 nieces and nephews, Clara and Jason welcomed in to the world Madeline, Isabel and Morgan on New Years Eve 2013. These posts are about their journey parenting triplets.
A childhood premonition about having triplets had come true and after a relatively event-free pregnancy (albeit shorter and with a more rapidly growing tummy than is normal), the adventure began.
Clara is now famous around Auckland where she and her close-knit family live, for being the lady with the big red buggy. Although some things might take three times as long as normal, she wouldn’t change it for the world and is quick to remind people that she also gets three times the cuddles, three times the smiles and three times the pleasure.
Parenting triplets: Budding little swimmers
So the end of April marked 4 months of age for Isabel, Morgan and Madeline – we have 3 smiling babies and 3 swimmers.
The smiles are amazing… first thing in the morning poking your head into the bassinets is the best as we are greeted with a smiling baby each time. It is definitely one of the (many) perks of having 3 babies… you can always find one of them that will smile back at you!
We have also gone swimming a couple times in the past month. The swimming is great but also a bit of a mission.
Parenting triplets 101: Getting them ready for the pool
It goes something like this:
Undress Madeline and get into togs, pass to Jason in the water for a 10 minute swim. Undress Morgan and get into togs and put back in pram. Get Madeline out of pool and into pram. Pass Morgan to Jason for 10 minutes swim. Take Madeline to change rooms and get warm and dressed. Put Madeline back in pram. Undress Isabel and put in pram. Get Morgan from pool and put in pram. Get Isabel and pass to Jason for 10 minute swim. Take Morgan to change room and get warm and dressed. Put Morgan back in pram. Get Isabel from Pool and take to change room and get warm and dressed. Put Isabel back in Pram…
Whilst all the time looking calm and collected because all the parents of other children are STARING at you!
Oh… and actually a few of the parents decide to come and ask a few questions and generally chit chat in the middle of that sequence!!! Still awesome though and something we will keep doing.
We haven’t got the smiling and swimming happening together yet. Parenting triplets is tricky.. Watch this space!
