:: HR Cheerleader
“Give me a C… give me a V!” Kate has skills. Cheer skills. But not your typical pom pom waving kind. She’s the real deal; a loud & proud people person. Whether recruiting heads for the company pyramid or performing set & reviews, Kate makes for a pretty great human resources cheerleader.
The road to HR wasn’t a straight one for Kate. It’s a journey that’s included many stops along the way. Yet after a couple of philosophy papers, a degree in midwifery, a stint in business management – and a baby, baby! – Kate reached her destination, phil&teds.
“What began as a job, fast became a career. phil&teds’ supportive culture allows your best qualities to shine. You find yourself with room to grow and working in areas you’d never imagined. A solid helping of ambitious drive with a go get ‘em attitude helps too. And balls… you gotta have balls. Figuratively speaking, our company DNA demands it!”
In 2012, Kate accepted a role in web sales support. After eight months of most excellent work, a position became available in the company’s foreign affairs team. Kate was encouraged to apply, got the job and began working with agents in Europe before focusing on emerging market sales. Fast forward a few, and through the support and guidance of senior staff, Kate had taken on her current role as phil&teds’ HR cheerleader.
“HR fills my sense of curiosity and initiative. Everyday is different, and every situation needs to be approached differently. While it’s been a massive learning curve for me, there’s still so much to discover. Wits & giggles aside, that’s what excites me most.”
When Kate’s not waving her HR pom poms, you’ll find her hiking up Mt Kau Kau. Since October 2015, Kate has lost a total of 52kgs and has no plans of stopping there. She’s currently studying towards a personal training certificate and hopes to one day use the knowledge gained to help people achieve their health and fitness goals. Alongside teaching her weekly antenatal class, of course!
